Talk: “Getting started with Satellite Data in Python” – Level 3

This talk will give introduction into GeoPython and open-source tools for working with satellite data, covering data acquisition, filtering, and analysis, including the use of indexes to detect phenomena like urban settlements or vegetation. It aims to equip participants with the skills to handle and analyze satellite data effectively.

jackie is currently working mostly as backend and devops engineer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. On the side she does some teaching. While she encourages art students to delve into coding and machine learning, she also engages TU Wien students in feminist technoscience studies, to build more inclusive tech.

Talk: “What the hack is Web App Sec?” – Level 3

After a short intro into the specifics of web application security, this talk will focus on a few of the most common web application vulnerabilities and how developers can up their secure coding skills.

Linda supports companies working with Cloud Technologies and specializes in IT Process Optimization and Agile Methodologies. She has held various positions over the past ten years, from Java Software Developer to Business Analyst to Product Owner, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics.
She is also a member of the User Group Leader Team for AWS Meetup Vienna, AWS Community Hero, and volunteers on a Funding Advisory Board and for Women in AI.

This journey, however, is far from complete. Let’s explore the transformation that has led us beyond traditional DevOps, into the realms of platform engineering and the essential practice of treating everything as code. We’ll explore the shift towards automation and self-service platforms, emphasizing how these advancements empower developers and operators with greater agility and efficiency.

Elka is an academic lecturer at FH Wien der WKW and teaches Introduction to Computer Science and Python. She’s also an mentor of W&&C.
In her free time, she manages the Instagram account @thesciencyfeminist, where she posts about women in science, feminism and debunking fake news.

Martina Lindorfer has been researching, publishing and teaching about Security and Privacy issues in apps, IoT and operating systems for over 10 years. Currently she talks about Artificial Intelligence in Computer Security as Associate Professor for Security and Privacy at the Technical University of Vienna .

For more than 10 years now, we’ve been growing together. As the first Product Owner of the company formerly known as Bee One, I witnessed the first line of George Code. Tons of code, various positions, 6 country launches and 8 million users later, we still share hopes and plans.
Now, as one of the two Managing Directors of George Labs, I am looking forward to further georgifying the industry together with my incredibly talented team. Sigrid loves open source and is currently Joomla production department coordinator – completely on a voluntary basis. She is well connected in the international Joomla community (Joomla User Group Vienna, JoomlaDay D-A-CH and others) and has been the owner of a small digital agency near Vienna for almost 20 years.

Talk “Building an Open Source Community” – Level 1

Joomla is – by far – but still – the second most used Open Source CMS worldwide. She tells us about the challenges of building a long-standing open source community and strategies for optimising collaboration and long-term stability.

Eva has studied law and computer science, when she jumped into the open source community for a cryptographic project (CAcert). After university she worked as an IT consultant when she was asked to help with her governance knowledge in the blockchain architect world.
